GASTRIC JUICE ANALYSIS

Abstract
The gastric analysis may be helpful in decisions concerning patient management by providing secretory data which is compatible with the diagnosis of gastro-intestinal disease and may be used to greatest advantage under precisely these circumstances.
Most studies of gastric secretory function have been focused on the regulation of acid-pepsin secretions, therefore, many different techniques and stimuli are available now for studying the acid secretory behavior of the stomach.
Another important aspect of gastric physiology, namely, that of secretion of mucus has received scant attention.
The problem of the structure and composition of mucus with respect to its functional properties is of basic importance, and the wide variety of these functions, particularly those of immunological significance are indeed formidable.
